Project Description

Centred around stereotypes of the automotive industry, Cars & Culture explores the diverse approaches different nations have towards vehicles.

Not to be confused with car culture, this project investigates broader relationships between societies and their automotive customs. Spanning from affluent Western societies like America to frequently challenged post-Soviet countries such as Hungary, these images engage in a commentary on the overall living standards of these disparate nations through a cross section of their citizens’ personal cars.

Each location is paired with a body of text inspired by a local used car advertisement.
